Automatisering av härdugn

Examensarbetet har utförts på Metso Refiner Segments AB i Hagfors, Värmland. Gjuteriet arbetar mot pappersindustrin och produkten de tillverkar kallas för malsegment. Malsegmenten sitter monterad på två stora skivor i en raffinör, vilket används för att framställa mekanisk pappersmassa. För att minska personalkostnaderna och för att få bort ett monotont moment för operatörerna vill Metso automatisera den station där malsegmenten härdas. Värmebehandlingen sköts idag av två operatörer och är tänkt att efter en automatisering kunna skötas av en operatör.

3D-modell av torkcyklon - Examensarbete på Metso Panelboard AB i Sundsvall

This Bachelor of Science thesis was carried out at Metso Panelboard AB, located in Sundsvall, Sweden. The work lasted for 10 weeks and began at the end of February 2007. Metso Panelboard is one of the leading suppliers of complete lines, single machines, engineering knowledge and after-market services to the fibreboard industries. The task involved building a 3D-model of a dryer cyclone in the CAD-program Pro/ENGINEER. A dryer cyclone is the part where the tree fibres are dried in the process of manufacturing fibreboards. Currently, it takes about two weeks to draw a dryer cyclone. By creating a 3D-model of it, which should have the functionality to be generated to different sizes, the goal is to decrease the drawing time to about 20 hours and to increase the quality of the work. This report includes the fundamental theories behind the manufacturing of fibreboards with focus on the dryer cyclone.

Delegation of assignments regarding the work environment is a complex topic that is difficult to illustrate. It is not explicit mentioned in the law and the established practice are ambiguous and vague. This has caused a lot of confusion, not only for private companies but also for executives within public administration.Metso paper Karlstad Inc. gave us the assignments to investigate their delegation system and to analyze the need of change before a planed readjustment. The purpose of this essay is therefore to investigate how the proposed delegation system is constructed and whether it fulfills the demands established by Swedish law.

The capability to understand customer value - A case study of Metso Mining over continents

The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyze how the mining equipment producers on a global market manage to handle the changing conditions concerning customer value. Our approach has been a comparative analysis between two different sites in order to answer the purpose. The case studies at Metso Mining have been made through interviews and visits at two geographical markets, South America and Scandinavia. The theoretical framework applied on our empirical findings is based on Blue Ocean Strategy, Customer Value and Resourced Based View. The empirical foundation is based on interviews with Metso Mining employees at Sorocaba in Brazil and Kiruna/Gällivare, Trelleborg and Staffanstorp in Sweden.

The purpose of this thesis has been to investigate the effect of introducing the qualitystandard ISO 9001:2000 at Metso Paper Service in Sundsvall. The investigation has been focused on implementation of the new method of work, Continuous improvements. The implementation has been studied in a case study with both a qualitative and quantitative method. Continuous Improvements is a way of working focused on continuously increasing the efficiency and having the purpose of achieving the formulated goals. This is often accomplished by the organisation carrying out the changing process to a great extent in small but efficient teams.

Partipolitisk segmentering: vem är partiets väljare?

The purpose of this thesis was to gain an understanding of how Swedish political parties gain knowledge of their voters. The assumptions taken in the thesis were that political parties are using same methods as businesses do to find interesting segments. To attain insight into the purpose of the thesis, two research questions were formulated: how are Swedish political parties obtaining insights in who their potential voters are? With the second question, an attempt is made to answer how the very same parties are using their knowledge about their voter segments. To find answers to those questions, personal interviews were performed with seven political parties.

Serviceverkstaden vid Metso Paper Sundsvall AB, det vill säga Metso Paper Sundsvall Service Workshop, reparerar och servar maskindetaljer för pappersmassaindustrin. Reparationsbehoven är till viss del svåra att förutspå, vilket gör verksamheten svår att planera och prognostisera. Under åren har det byggts upp flera olika system som stöd för verksamheten vilket gör att beredning och planering av produktionen är relativt omständligt att utföra. Under hösten 2003 påbörjades ett förändringsarbete vilket ska leda till att ledtiderna kortas samt att resurser ska kunna frigöras för den enhet som idag arbetar med planering och beredning. För att förenkla det omständliga arbetet med att planera och bereda produktionen efterfrågas ett enkelt, flexibelt och användarvänligt systemstöd.

Finanskrisens baksida : Fyra fallstudier om personaladministration under finanskrisen 2008

The purpose of this paper is to examine and analyze past development of mutual funds in large and small mutual fund companies and see if there are any differences between these two segments. Limitations on the number of funds have been made by choosing Nordic mutual fund companies that invest in emerging markets over an 11-year period. The study is made on 66 mutual funds managed by 13 mutual fund companies in which the segment of small fund companies includes seven fund companies with assets under management less than 100 billion SEK and the segment of large mutual fund companies includes six fund companies with assets under management more than 400 billion SEK. In the comparison of the segments the Sharpe ratio has been used to calculate the risk-adjusted return. The study shows small differences of the risk-adjusted return between the segments.
